The 15th Avenue Church of God in Fort Lauderdale Celebrates its 60th Anniversary!!!

The year was1953, while living in Saint Augustine, Florida - Elder Bennie E. Eubanks received a clear call from God to begin a church in Fort Lauderdale. Despite not fully understanding “The Call”, he obeyed the voice of God and began his mission as an oracle unto God. Once he arrived in a strange city, Bennie Eubanks hit the road running as he was surely about his heavenly fathers business, by walking the streets witnessing to strangers; not to mention, effectively networking with other prominent leaders. Quickly God provided believers and followers to the ministry. Soon prayer meetings began in the saints’ homes, while the congregation grew rapidly! The fledgling ministry resources grew just enough to meet the capacity challenges at that time. In no time Visionary Elder Eubanks was able to purchase a storefront located at 118 NW 5th Avenue in Fort Lauderdale, where the ministry worshiped for 6 years.

Fast forward to 1959, God remained faithful to the ministry by guiding Elder Bennie Eubanks, along with his trusted leadership team members Bro Robert Dickinson Sr., (who is still a member), Rev. Robert Gresham Sr., Rev. William H. Gresham, Joel Gresham, and James Watkins to purchase the now present location: 705 NW 15^th Avenue Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Currently there are 7 original families faithfully serving in ministry. Sister Cora Cunningham currently is the oldest member.

Today, commonly known as “The Ave”, 15^th Avenue Church of God is excited about celebrating its 60 years of ministry this weekend, which is a celebration to honor the men and women who paved the way for this wonderful church ministry. Senior Pastor Baron Mashack states “Don't miss this 60th Anniversary Celebration!”

The celebratory service will kickoff this evening, Friday October 18^th at 7:00 pm. This weekend’s anniversary celebration schedule is as follows:

- Friday Evening - Special guest Dr. Curtis Eubanks and the Community Church of God.

- Saturday Evening – There will be a special celebration @ 11:00am at the original site located at 118 NW 5th Avenue, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Later that evening there will be a worship service; with Senior Pastor Baron Mashack bringing the Word, @ 7:00pm at 15th Avenue Church of God located at: 705 NW 15th Avenue, Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33311.

- Sunday Worship Celebration @ 11:00 am.

- Sunday Evening - Banquet @ 6:00pm to celebrate the 60^th anniversary at the beautiful Jubilee Gala in Pembroke Pines, Fl.

*Special guest speaker all day on Sunday will be the Rev. Clifton McDowell from the Church of God East New York!

15th Avenue Church of God continues its legacy and heritage as a ‘House of God’ for many. True, there have been several places for worship, and many have come and gone through the years, but the word of God which found its entrance 60 years ago, continues to transform hearts and souls has made this ministry to be “God’s people, His church.”

All are welcome to share in this celebratory fellowship, as the ministry will be rejoicing, and singing heritage songs. There will be special presentations in honor of founder Elder Bennie E.
