‘Glasgow 2014 Experience Will Help Scottish Businesses in The International Major Events Market’ Says Mei Founder

Oct. 18, 2013 - PRLog -- GLASGOW, October 18 2013 – The success of London 2012 and potential of Glasgow 2014 will boost Scottish businesses looking to establish themselves at major sporting events around the world, according to Dennis Mills, founder of leading global business specialists Major Events International (MEI).

Brazil and Russia are set to stage FIFA World Cups and Olympic Games with Qatar also selected to stage the FIFA World Cup in nine years’ time.

MEI is staging a seminar in Glasgow on Tuesday October 22, which will highlight the opportunities for Scottish companies, regardless of sector or size, looking to break into or establish themselves in the sports event industry. There will also be more of a detailed look at Qatar.

Speaking ahead of the event, Dennis Mills said: “The standing of British companies in the sports industry around the world could not be higher and MEI is looking to work with Scottish businesses looking to capitalise on the attention that Glasgow 2014 will provide.

“There are a great number of the opportunities for Scottish companies in Qatar, Russia and Brazil, with many procurement opportunities underway already and many challenges that will come with those openings.

“Scottish companies can no doubt thrive in the international events market – but without experience and local insight, it can be a costly and fruitless exercise as MEI has seen so many times before.”

The MEI seminar will be run with UIDC in collaboration with Pinsent Masons LLP, who will be represented by Australian James Earl, who oversees a specialist commercial rights and event management team.

Other speakers include Eileen Williams, Managing Director, ESTC, DWA Architects Director of International Projects, Mel Fairbourn-Varley and Irum Ashraf, Creative Technologies.
