The Morris County Arts Workshop Announces Annual Haunted Workshop at The Hive on October 26, 2013

The Morris County Arts Workshop (MCAW) will once again host its annual Haunted Workshop and Fundraising Event on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at The Hive in Chester, NJ.

Oct. 17, 2013 - PRLog -- CHESTER, NJ – It’s time for spooktacular family fun at the third annual Haunted Workshop and Fundraising Event by The Morris County Arts Workshop (http://www.mcartsworkshop.com/) (MCAW (http://www.mcartsworkshop.com/)) at its new storefront location - The Hive in the Chester Springs (ShopRite) Mall in Chester. The non-profit group, which brings the arts, music, cultural programs, and a vast array of after school activities to the Chester, Mendham, Long Valley, Mt. Olive and surrounding communities, will host this special event on Saturday, October 26, 2013 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Guests are invited to come in their best Halloween costumes. Suggested donations are $7 per person online and $10 at the door. Senior citizens and children four and under are free.

The ever popular Zombie King (Matthew Lembo of DanceNJ.com) will be on hand to set the mood, spinning tunes and igniting the Hive with a dazzling light show. As in the past, he will be available for those who dare pose with him and will invite participants to learn and perform Michael Jackson’s famous “Thriller” dance. Other activities will include Halloween arts and crafts; games; chilling tales; a mystical fortune teller; face painting; musical and theatrical performances; and more. There will be goodie bags and prizes. Snacks will also be available for purchase.

“Be ready to enjoy some Halloween fun for the whole family,” explains MCAW director and founder Jane Shatz. “Every year, this event gets bigger and better with more crafts, music and entertainment for our guests to enjoy.”

What’s more, Shatz invites guests to attend the Haunted Open Mic Night (https://www.facebook.com/ChesterOpenMicNights) following the Workshop from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Sign-up for performers begins at 6:30 p.m. “We ask performers to bring their best spooky tales, music, poetry, comedy act, dance or whatever will thrill us all,” she adds.

As one of MCAW’s major fundraising efforts, proceeds from the Haunted Workshop will help support the non-profit organization’s programs, many workshops, seminars and programs including Guest Art Displays and Lecture Series, Writing Workshops, Art in Public Spaces Initiative, its Home for the Arts building, and drop in programs and events at the newly opened Hive. About the Morris County Arts Workshop

Founded in 2003 by Jane Shatz, a Juilliard School of Music dance alumna and Chester resident, the Morris County Arts Workshop (MCAW) is a non-profit group created to nurture and promote the love for the arts in children of all ages.  The program is community based and offers a wide variety of classes from musical instrument lessons to voice to painting to yoga to language and martial arts.  Classes are currently held in Chester and Mendham public schools as well as The Hive in the Chester Springs Shopping Center on Route 206 in Chester, NJ.  There are two sessions per year which culminate with a special Showcase performance and art display in the fall and spring.  In addition, MCAW runs five weeks of summer camp for pre-kindergarten to age 15.
