Murray Realty Promotes the Child Protection Center With A Tasty Event In Downtown Sarasota

SARASOTA, Fla. - Oct. 17, 2013 - PRLog -- Murray Realty has helped to organize the Taste Of SOMA, an awareness and fundraising event to benefit the Child Protection Center.

For the past three years Bev Murray and Jane Ebury of Murray Realty have been involved in promoting the Child Protection Center (CPC), an organization that is dedicated to helping abused children. This year they are raising the bar by helping to organize and promote a new event titled, the Taste Of SOMA (which stands for South Of Main).

The event's goal is to increase awareness with the public and local Sarasota business owners of the important services the Child Protection Center provides our community.

Established in 1980, the Child Protection Center, or CPC, a not for profit organization,  initially provided only child abuse intervention services through the Child Protection Team (CPT), but has since grown to provide support and intervention services for sexually abused children, and children who have suffered abuse from non-caregivers. Additionally the CPC has programs to help affected children showing signs of aggressive behavior in an effort to stop the cycle of abuse.

Bev's role on the CPC committee has been to create the Taste of Soma brand, manage the marketing and PR for the event, design and produce flyers, work with the sponsors and raise funds and awareness for the event. Jane Ebury has been heavily involved in fundraising for the CPC.

Taste Of SoMA will feature tours of the Child Protection Center, delicious food provided by a number of popular restaurants in downtown Sarasota, great live music, and drinks – all free of charge.

Bev Murray had this to say about being involved with creating Taste of SOMA, “What I have enjoyed most to this point has been creating a brand new event from scratch and seeing the initial vague idea morph into something well defined and appealing to the public. Taste of Soma is creating quite the buzz about town. We seem to have captured people's imaginations perfectly and the response to our event has been incredible given that it the first one of its kind. Our committee has worked incredibly well as a team to garner a lot of interest and incredible support from some of the best known restaurants in downtown Sarasota. We are now just focused on the details that will make all the difference on the big night. We are working hard to bring the CPC and the great work that it does into the community.”
