Rimshot Urban Musical Selects Conyers, GA for a Highly Anticipated, Anniversary Performance

ATLANTA - Oct. 16, 2013 - PRLog -- RIMSHOT Urban Musical is a theatrical production that integrates the talents of a positive and innovative group of musicians, scribes, artists, and dancers while bringing awareness to human trafficking, specifically the commercial sexual exploitation of children.  The theatrical production tells the story of a talented young woman's trepidations in a deceptive and predatory music network.  Paralleling its champion issue, the production highlights the sincere danger of a subversive industry while maintaining an appropriate and uplifting storyline suitable for all ages.

RIMSHOT Urban Musical was inspired by Chong Kim, a survivor and activist with a film called “The Abduction of Eden” based upon her account of being sold into and escaping a domestic human trafficking ring.  The main character of Rimshot Urban Musical is named Jada—in honor of actress and activist Jada Pinkett Smith who works tirelessly to bring awareness to the growing epidemic.

The production benefits organizations with initiatives and resources to end human trafficking domestically and internationally.  During the production and promotional efforts, related organizations are represented extensively via promotions and marketing associated with the event, statistical information in the playbill distributed to patrons, and a video montage and/or tribute performance with the intent to bring acute awareness to the cause.

"We have launched a national tour, targeting every major city identified as a hub for human trafficking," says Reggie Cason, Creative Director and co-Executive Producer.  "We have been so well received by our audience, we developed a national tour in 2014 starting with an anniversary celebration on November 23, 2013 at 7 o'clock at the Rockdale County Auditorium in Conyers, Georgia”.

A special note about human trafficking

Human trafficking contains an element of force, fraud, or coercion (actual, perceived, or implied); unless the person is under 18 years of age involved in commercial sex acts. There is forced labor and/or exploitation.  Persons trafficked are victims of Enslavement, subjected to limited movement or isolation, and/or had documents confiscated.  The act of human trafficking need not involve the actual movement of the victim nor require crossing of an international border.  The victim, most often a minor, must be involved in labor/services or commercial sex acts, i.e., must be “working”.
