Bonefish Grill Event Raised Funds for Quality Life Center Programs

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Oct. 16, 2013 - PRLog -- Quality Life Center held its 6^th annual BoneWish Fundraiser in Fort Myers on Saturday. With great food and a relaxed atmosphere, the event raised over $55,000 which will be used to support the center which serves at-risk youth in southwest Florida.  The event was made possible by the generosity of sponsor Bonefish Grill, and was hosted by Lee County Tax Collector Larry Hart.

Quality Life Center teen, Dedrick Douglas, 15, performed an original spoken word poem entitled, “Success,” encouraging youth to make good choices, do what they know to be right even if it is not popular, and to persevere despite obstacles.

At the event, Board Chairman Ted Sottong of Studio+ Architecture announced that the center is embarking on a Building Sustainability and Reserve Campaign, and will hold an Open House at the center at 3210 Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd. in Fort Myers on November 6, 2013 at 5:30 p.m.

Founded by Abdul’Haq Muhammed, Quality Life Center has been providing services for 23 years in education, youth enrichment, and personal and community development for at-risk youth and families in the Dunbar area of Fort Myers. Services include hot meals, tutoring, martial arts, homework help, academic enrichment and arts instruction through early learning, afterschool, teen and summer camp programs for children aged 2-18. The center also offers a personal and job development program for adults.  Quality Life Center is funded through the generosity of private donors and grants.
