By: Bishop Auckland College The private day nursery has been shortlisted for the Lloyds Bank Community Fund 2013 and, if successful, will be awarded £3,000 to purchase climbing equipment for its garden. The fund is awarding grants to 1,300 local good causes in villages, towns and cities across England and Wales. There are four awards for each community, with two receiving £3,000 each, and two receiving £300. The funding is awarded to applicants who secure the largest number of public votes, and more than 200,000 votes have already been cast nationally. Voting for Bishop Auckland College Nursery is open until November 1 online at www.lloydsbank.com/ Alice Hunter, Senior Early Years Practitioner at the nursery, is co-ordinating the bid. She said: “I would urge the people of Bishop Auckland to vote for our funding bid. If we are successful the money will be used to purchase a large climbing frame with protected flooring for our nursery garden, which will allow the children in our care to have access to more physical and active play, and give them great pleasure.” The nursery, which is located on the college’s main Bishop Auckland campus with its own premises adjacent to the main building, has 30 staff and places for up to 160 children aged from three months to pre-school, and serves staff, students and the general public.
