This substantial update features enhanced visuals, an improved interface, and new context sensitive tools designed to further increase the software’s ease-of-use.
User-friendly updates were the main focus of FlexSim 7.0. Previously static views and windows are now context sensitive, changing their content depending on what task the user is performing. Properties have been made easier to find and to adjust, and Excel interaction, animations, and even date/time have all been considered and overhauled.
“We wanted to create a simulation package that is as easy to use as it is powerful,” said Anthony Johnson, lead developer at FlexSim. “Take the new Sampler button, for example: we created a simple tool that can execute code functions based on a click of the mouse. The software is just as flexible as it’s ever been, but much of the programming drudgery has been streamlined or completely removed.”
This release also showcases improvements in performance and visual capabilities. For the first time ever, FlexSim is available as a 64-bit program, giving the software access to additional RAM in order to execute larger and more advanced simulation models. And by incorporating some of the latest OpenGL specifications, FlexSim 7.0 gives users control of powerful lighting and shadow effects, adding further realism to the simulation.
“It’s a big step forward for a product that was already very good,” said Brittany Quinn, consulting engineer at FlexSim. “The speed and presentation are unparalleled, but the essential features of past versions of FlexSim have remained untouched. I think it’s a welcome addition to any company’s repertoire.”
