TAMPA, Fla. - Oct. 15, 2013 - PRLog -- Gracie Tampa South has a proud history of spreading the Helio Gracie system of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu across the South Tampa region.  Today marks 100 years since the birth of Grandmaster Helio Gracie.  Helio's style of jiu-jitsu was the most effecient method of self defense - the Gracie way enabled smaller and weaker individuals to overcome larger and stronger attackers through the proper application of leverage, balance and timing.  Helio dedicated his life to perfecting and spreading the art of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, a task that is continued at all the Tampa Gracie schools today.

Gracie Tampa is proud to have a lineage tracing directly back to the grandmaster.  Tampa Gracie coach Matt Arroyo received his black belt under Tampa Gracie coach Rob Kahn.  Rob Kahn was part of the first group of black belts under Helio's son Royce Gracie, the original UFC champion.  Rob actually took classes directly under Helio at the Gracie Academy in Torrance, California.  The philosophies and techniques taught to him by Grandmaster Helio are passed on to the Tampa Gracie students at the Gracie Tampa South Academy.
