"Just enter an original song and we'll send you a free 45-day all-access trial to SongU.com trial and software to help you learn to sight-read (for Mac or Windows), which are worth $120," says SongDoor president Tony Zotta. "Our entry fee is $10, the same as it was in 2006. It's our mission to support songwriters who don't know how to get their music heard. SongDoor give them a place to showcase videos of their original songs, or they can ask us to tweet out a local performance or CD release. We do that for free.
"This year, we're also automatically screening all entries for possible film and TV placement," says COO Susan Carroll. This is where songwriters are making their money these days, because labels deals are virtually unattainable anymore."
