Kannad Aviation awarded contract to provide ELTs distress beacons to one of largest airlines in US

SOUTH PETHERTON, U.K. - Oct. 15, 2013 - PRLog -- Guidel, October 14^th 2013 - Kannad Aviation, a business of Orolia (NYSE Alternext Paris – FR0010501015 – ALORO), today announced that it has been awarded a contract for the supply of 406 MHz Kannad Aviation Survival beacons to one of the largest airlines in the US, through their partner Aviall Inc., A Boeing Company. Delivery of the COSPAS SARSAT ELT beacons began in the third quarter and is expected to be completed by the end of 2013.

Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) – The Aviation COSPAS SARSAT distress beacon–
ELTs, quickly and automatically alert Search and Rescue services when an emergency incident takes place, providing the location they allow victims to be rescued more quickly. ELTs equip the largest airliners as well as private aircraft or helicopters and thus contribute to aviation safety. In commercial aviation, each aircraft has on board :

•       A fixed beacon ( Integra type) with automatic activation, located inside the fuselage ;

•       One or more 406 MHz portable survival beacons with manual activation, whose number varies according to the size of the aircraft (from 1 to 4 on the A380), placed in the baggage compartments for use of the crew in situation of distress.
