“I am disappointed that the incumbent did not make the time to discuss the many important issues. This is a trying time for our communities. There are many problems that need to be addressed. I think it is important that we have a conversation about how to best move forward. Unfortunately, Mr. D’Amaro doesn’t seem feel there is a need,” said Martin. “As the next Suffolk County Legislator, I will always respect the people. Voters can count on me making myself always available.”
Democrat Suffolk County legislator Steve Stern attended and he is running unopposed.
Candidates were questioned on a variety of issues including crime, housing and taxation.
Martin spoke about his determination to represent the will of the people. “I think it is wrong that term limits were tossed aside. The people wanted it and the legislature just ignored them,” said Martin.
Martin told voters about his thoughts on solving the crime problem and keeping taxes low. He is opposed to hidden taxes.
As the next Suffolk County legislator, Martin plans on holding regular office hours so people don’t need to make an appointment with him to discuss the issue. “My door will always be open. I am and will remain happy to talk with voters about the issues,” added Martin.
