Cal State Fullerton, Chapman And Tritech Sponsor SBIR/STTR Grants Workshops For Small Businesses

IRVINE, Calif. - Oct. 14, 2013 - PRLog -- Entrepreneurs and businesses looking to capitalize on the $1 billion annual Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) or Small Business Technology Transfer Research (STTR) funds will receive expert training in a series of SBIR/STTR workshops sponsored by TriTech Small Business Development Center, California State University, Fullerton and Chapman University.

The first of three workshops will begin on October 15th at Chapman University with an Introduction to SBIR/STTR grants, and again at California State University Fullerton on November 15th, and December 13th. These workshops are half day events to be held from 3PM – 6PM.

The workshop will be facilitated by Molly B. Schmid Ph.D., as the workshop leader, she has worked with executive teams that raised over $100MM in funding through venture capital, corporate partnerships, public markets, and US and Canadian federal research grants.  Molly has served on NSF and NIH review panels, where she was a grant reviewer for many years, and also served as chair of SBIR/STTR review panels for NIH.  She has been part of the Southern California entrepreneurial community, and is currently President of the Tech Coast Angels Inland Empire network, and a member of the TCA Board of Directors.

Topics covered during the workshop include basic information about the federal SBIR and STTR programs, benefits and limitations of SBIR/STTR funding and steps to prepare for the writing and submission processes.  TriTech will also offer follow up sessions on how best to navigate through the SBIR post award process.
