Attorney Deandra M. Grant Teaches DWI 101 Class to Criminal Defense Clinic Students at Law School

RICHARDSON, Texas - Oct. 14, 2013 - PRLog -- Students from the Texas Tech University School of Law were recently able to glean valuable information from Collin County Criminal Defense Attorney Deandra M. Grant. The lawyer, who is the founder of The Law Offices of Deandra M. Grant, PC, recently teamed up with another lawyer to teach a DWI 101 class to students in the law school’s Criminal Defense Clinic. She was also able to teach students and legal professionals about DWI defense in another event that took place the next day.

Attorney Grant taught the taught the DWI 101 course on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013 in Lubbock, Texas. The lawyer is pleased to have had the chance to teach future Texas attorneys about how to handle charges for the offense of driving while intoxicated (DWI). In addition to teaching the DWI 101 class, Attorney Grant also helped teach at a seminar in Lubbock titled “Trial Skills: Defending a DWI Case with Breath/Blood Evidence,” which took place on Friday, Oct. 11, 2013. This event was provided by International Legal & Forensic Science Services, Inc., or ILFSS. Thirty-nine lawyers, law students and judges received training on DWI science and trial skills from Attorney Grant. At this event, the Lubbock lawyers presented Ms. Grant with a cookie cake that served as a replica of the book she recently co-authored, The Texas DWI Manual.

The law school’s Criminal Defense Clinic is a course at Texas Tech University School of Law that allows law students to work on actual legal cases with supervision in Lubbock County, including cases that involve misdemeanor offenses, felony offenses and juvenile offenses, according to the clinic’s website. The clinic also includes a classroom component, through which students learn about criminal law topics such as case strategy, skills development and ethics. Students who participate in the clinic get the chance to work with attorneys who are members of the local and state bars.

Attorney Grant is a national speaker on DWI defense topics and other criminal defense topics. She has completed hours of DWI defense training through various programs and courses. For example, she has completed training to be a Standardized Field Sobriety Testing instructor (which has allowed her to teach other attorneys about these testing methods), she has completed coursework on DWI forensic blood testing and urine testing, and she has completed the Intoxilyzer 5000 operator certification course, along with other types of training. Attorney Grant has even been accepted into the Master’s of Forensic Science program at the University of Florida’s College of Pharmacy.  The Law Offices of Deandra M.
