STAMFORD, U.K. - Oct. 14, 2013 - PRLog -- A free gift from the Mercedes-Benz Club to journalists attending the Classic Motor Show 2013
The Mercedes-Benz Club would like to invite all journalists attending the Classic Motor Show to visit its stand – number 400 in hall nine, opposite Meguair’s. If you would like to make yourself known to Club Director Trevor Mitchell or Club Chairman Ian Keers you will receive a free copy of the Club’s Yearbook. This hard-back, full-colour volume charts the marque’s history, with particular emphasis on its UK activities, and tells the story of the Club’s first 60 years.

Once again the Mercedes-Benz Club will have a major presence at the UK’s leading classic car show and its stand will feature a range of cars from the 1950s to the 1990s. These include an example of the world’s first super car – the 300SL Gullwing, its little brother – a 190SL, a still breathtakingly stylish 300SE cabriolet, a Pagoda SL celebrating the 50th anniversary of this model, an example of the Mercedes-Benz you just can’t ignore – a 600 with technology that still impresses 50 years on, a 240D that’s been ‘round the clock’ but was buffed up sufficiently to win this year’s Club National Concours and a 1997 SL60 AMG – part of the R129 range which is the ‘coming classic’ in the Club.

The Gullwing is back doing what it was built for – it was specially prepared to be the star of the Mercedes-Benz stand at the Canadian International Fair in 1955. The 600 was originally the property of a leading pop music manager and songwriter, and the 240D has been in the same family all its life – its current owner having restored it in memory of his late father and all the happy trips made in it between the UK and Cyprus.

The Mercedes-Benz Club has over 10,000 Members and organises a huge range of events for them – including national and international rallies, a national concours competition and lots of social events, including local pub meetings and participation in shows and rallies in the UK, Ireland and Europe.

It is the only UK club recognised by Mercedes-Benz UK Ltd and Daimler AG. Founded in 1952, it is the oldest Mercedes club in the world and caters for Mercedes-Benz cars of all ages. It publishes a monthly, full colour, 80-plus page, A4 magazine and offers an exclusive range of Club merchandise – on sale at the NEC.

The Club provides a comprehensive range of technical support for its Members via Model Register Captains and Technical Advisers, plus forums and a searchable Technical Reference Library on the Members’ pages of its website. Members also receive the Club Directory, which includes the ‘Good Garage Guide’ of Members’ recommendations.

Club Members can take advantage of preferential terms from a wide range of companies and organisations. These include exclusive insurance policies plus discounts from appointed Mercedes-Benz dealers, hotel groups, ferry operators and oncar accessories.
