Worcester Teacher Launches Second Novel

WORCESTER, Mass. - Oct. 12, 2013 - PRLog -- Worcester, MA – On November 1, 2013, Diane Mulligan, an English teacher at St. John’s High School in Shrewsbury, will release her second novel, THE LATECOMERS FAN CLUB. A work of women’s fiction, the novel follows three characters who struggle to reconcile the reality of their adult lives with the dreams they had for themselves as kids.

“I think a lot of members of my generation grew up with the expectation that we would lead amazing, usual lives,” Mulligan said, explaining her motivation for writing this novel. “We were constantly told we could be anything we wanted to be. In reality, though, most of us end up leading ordinary lives, which as it turns out, isn’t a bad thing at all. Ordinary life can be pretty satisfying.”

Mulligan, who is the managing editor of THE WORCESTER REVIEW and the director of the Betty Curtis Worcester County Young Writers’ Conference, has taught English at St. John’s High School in Shrewsbury since 2002. Her first novel, WATCH ME DISAPPEAR, was a 2013 Kindle Book Review Best Indie Book Award finalist for young adult literature. “The positive response to WATCH ME DISAPPEAR definitely gave me the confidence to move forward with my writing career,” Mulligan said.
