RALEIGH, N.C. - Oct. 11, 2013 - PRLog -- RALEIGH, N.C. (October 11, 2013) – This weekend, more than 2,000 extreme athletes will flock to one of the most challenging competitions in the United States. The 35th annual IRONMAN World Championship will take place on Saturday, Oct. 12 in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, and one athlete has found a way to stand out from the crowd in his 10th IRONMAN.

DeShon Davis, a multi-sport endurance athlete from North Carolina, will be taking on the 140.6-mile challenge, while demonstrating state-of-the-art technology from TigerSwan. The security and vulnerability management company has outfitted Davis with its Guardian Angel program tracking beacon, offering the public the opportunity to see the technological capabilities of this safety device in action.

The tracking beacon functions similarly to a GPS but is equipped with a panic button and monitored around the clock by a team of security experts. The device allows members of the TigerSwan team to pinpoint client positions within a 3-foot radius and listen in to their surroundings. The Guardian Angel membership program serves clients such as business executives and government officials as they travel internationally, especially in unfamiliar or unstable regions, providing peace of mind and emergency extractions if necessary.

You can use specific Guardian Angel login credentials to track Davis, following his beacon on a map which displays a breadcrumb trail of his IRONMAN path and details his current speed. You will get to see what the security experts see.

“The beacon will allow people to see exactly where I am among the crowd of competitors just like the beacon gives the TigerSwan team an exact location to monitor the safety of their clients as they travel,” said Davis.

TigerSwan CEO James Reese is a former Commander and Operator in the elite DELTA FORCE who now puts his experience to work to assist the private sector.

“The world has changed for international travelers,” said Reese, TigerSwan CEO. “If you end up in a cab that doesn’t take you to your destination, our clients can activate their Guardian Angel beacons to immediately give our team their GPS location and allow us to listen in on conversations. We can coordinate an emergency assistance to your exact location.”

More than simply providing safety, Guardian Angel services range from client tracking and monitoring, to cultural liaisons, secure transportation and low-profile security details worldwide. Just as DeShon has spent many months training for this event, the program includes advanced planning that begins well before departure and is based on all-source, real-time local intelligence.
