Follow on Google News | The Queen Elizabeth Hospital introduce the Invacare Softform Premier Active 2At the end of July, all inpatients at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital were allocated hybrid mattresses to ensure they have absolute minimal risk from pressure ulcers as part of a £300,000 investment to improve patient safety and experience.
By: Invacare Ltd The mattress of choice was the Invacare Softform Premier Active 2 system with Strikethrough Resistant TechnologyTM. The introduction of the mattresses follows the successful campaign last year across the East of England to eradicate pressure ulcers from the wards. At that time the QEH introduced an eye-catching 'pink dot' system for identifying patients on ward information boards if they are at risk of developing pressure ulcers. Deputy Director of Nursing and Patient Experience, Val Newton, said: "This is good news for our patients and is a significant investment in patient safety. "All inpatients will benefit from a pressure-relieving mattress from the moment they are admitted to a ward. Not only will this be much more comfortable for them but will reduce their risk of developing pressure ulcers while they are here."
