“I’m excited to be able to offer vendor services to my clients,” Elizabeth said. “Some of them want to work with a freelance writer, but their accounting structures require an employer ID number and the liability protection of a company. So we were unable to work together.”
Many companies are increasingly preferring the security of transacting with a business rather than an independent contractor when it comes to their taxes. And not all writers offer this service. Elizabeth feels that forming a company increases her presence as a career writer, and allows her to better meet her clients’ needs.
“I’m happy to be able to expand my client base with my new company,” she said. “So many businesses have a need for a good writer, and now the tax barrier has been removed. I have the freedom to engage clients as an independent contractor or as a vendor based on their unique accounting structures.”
