According to a Chrysler representative, the company does have plans to build electric vehicles, but questions such as when those vehicles will arrive and how widely available they will be are still unanswered. Chrysler has begun recruiting engineers for their electric vehicle development program, which indicates that the company is ramping up their efforts in EV development, or at least beginning to put together a team of engineers to work on the project.
With a wide range of existing vehicles from its Dodge, Jeep, Ram, and Chrysler brands to build from, there are quite a few exciting possibilities for future offerings of electric cars from the company. The Dodge Circuit was a high-performance electric concept car developed by Chrysler which could provide the basis for new vehicles designed for the Dodge and Chrysler brands. Combined with the high-performance technology that has gone into the latest models of the Dodge Charger and Challenger, Chrysler could shape the future of high-performance electric cars. And the incredible torque provided by electric motors could be useful for Jeep’s off-road vehicles and Ram’s work trucks.
At this point, there is only speculation on the future of Chrysler’s EV development. In a few years from now, however, drivers looking for highly efficient vehicles from Chrysler can expect to find them at their local Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram dealership.
