2013 AHA CME Symposium Ischemic Heart Disease
DALLAS - Oct. 10, 2013 - PRLog -- The evolution of stable ischemic heart disease (SIHD) management

has included changes and new information in all aspects of management, including but not limited to diagnosis and assessment of risk, guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT), when to revascularize the SIHD patient, and when revascularization is selected, decision-making regarding percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) versus coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). New SIHD guidelines have attempted to capture many of these changes, and it is important for clinicians to be aware of these recommendations for practice. In addition, since the publication of the guidelines, completion of new clinical trials and release of new information from landmark studies have provided additional insights into optimal management. Some, but not all of this late-breaking information, is related to treatment of patients with SIHD who have type 2 diabetes. In this program, a faculty of experts--co-Chairs Dr. Bernard Chaitman and Dr. E. Magnus Ohman, Dr. Valentin Fuster, Dr. C. Noel Bairey Merz, and Dr. Peter Stone--will explain the changes and debate the current controversies in the management of patients with SIHD.
