Sales of Laser Colour MFPs increase by +6% across Western European Distribution for 2013

London - Unit sales of Laser Colour Multi-function Printers (MFPs) through Western European Distribution registered growth of +6% year-on-year for 2013-to-date, according to data published by CONTEXT, the European IT market research company.

“Changes in office printing increased the demand for Laser MFPs, which are favored within enterprises and government institutions across Western Europe”, said Zivile Brazdziunaite, Imaging Analyst at CONTEXT. “While these devices offer more functionality, a growth of digital workflow also meant that more people are taking advantage of digital scanning, particularly scanning directly to the cloud to share files with others more easily.”

The majority of countries in the region registered growth, with unit sales of Laser Colour MFPs in the UK up by +21% for the period; Spain and Sweden up +18% and +16% respectively; Germany and France increased by +13%; while Italy registered growth of +2%.

Most vendors registered positive double-digit growth for the year-to-date. Canon, OKI and Ricoh all registered Distribution sales growth of over +40% for this segment; Sales for Brother and Xerox were up +17%; while market leader HP recorded an increase of +1%. Samsung saw a marginal decline of -2%.
In terms of market share, HP leads with 37% of the market for this segment, followed by Samsung with 19% and Xerox with 11%.
