World Elite Runners to race for Gold in Hawaii with Swiss Shoes

Oct. 10, 2013 - PRLog -- Every year the top contenders from all over the world compete against each other in Hawaii. This upcoming weekend, three top athletes will starting with the Swiss running shoe On at the Ironman World championships in Kona. Each out of the three can look back on an impressive journey to Hawaii.

The Swiss triathlete Caroline Steffen is the world champion runner-up of 2012 and this year she already stood on seven podiums with her On shoes, three times as a victor. She is in the best shape she has ever been and very eager to get gold in Hawaii. Caroline is convinced she can make her dream of becoming the world champion come true with the On shoes:

"It feels pretty awesome to run with my On Cloudracers. My legs actually feel better at the finish as at the beginning of the run when I changed from biking.“

Besides Steffen, her American teammate Mary Beth Ellis is also on the gold medalfavorites-list. The winner of the northamerican Championship raced to four victories this year and is proving stronger than ever before. Four weeks ago, the American crashed with her bike while training and broke her collarbone. Despite injuries she does not give up hope of the world championship-title and will compete in Kona this weekend.

"After my crash and surgery a month before the world championships, I have been struggling with my swim and bike, but I know that with my On Cloudracers I will be in the best shoe to help me make up the ground I need to during the marathon. On the men’s side, the Belgian Frederik van Lierde is one of the top contenders. Since the beginning of 2013, he is running in the Swiss Ons and won four out of six races. At the Ironman Nice in France he won the third time in a row and beat the course record. „The Cloudracer flew me to the finish line, barefoot and no blisters at all. That’s unbelievable – I love those shoes!“, states Frederik van Lierde.
