Great Country Farms Carves up Fun for Kids & Canines

Oct. 9, 2013 - PRLog -- Bluemont, VA – Great Country Farms’ Pumpkin Fall Harvest (http://www.greatcountryfarms.com/index.php/event-calendar/annual-events/fall-harvest-festival.html) festival is in full swing!  Come to the farm on Oct 19^th & 20^th to find autumn produce, specialty foods, and seasonal decor to enhance your holidays.  Saturday kicks-off with wagon rides out to the pumpkin patch to search for the ideal shapes & sizes for your family.  Once you’ve found the “perfect” pumpkin, you can learn about the art of the carve. What will you carve and what will your pumpkin say about you and your family?!  The Farm carries a wide variety of pumpkins and decorative gourds including Pink “Porcelain Doll” pumpkins. All proceeds from these pink beauties go to www.PinkPumpkinFoundation.org (http://pinkpumpkinfoundation.org/home.php) to support Breast Cancer Research.

Sunday is all about that special member of your family – your dog!  It’s the Howl-oween Dog Costume Contest.  Bring your pup all dressed up – there are prizes to be won. The farm has off leash areas to ensure Fido is worn out by the day’s end.  The Harvest festival fun continues every weekend with the “Who’s Your Farmer?” Corn Maize, multiple Pig Races, P-Rex Show, Pumpkin Princess, and five acre play area. The Roosteraunt is open for lunch and features their famous fresh cider donuts and slushies. Admission includes a tasting of 3 wines at Bluemont Vineyard adjacent to the farm (a $5 value!) from 11am-5:00pm.

Admission:$10/child & $12/weekends & holidays

Farm Members, Military ID holders and kids 2 and under are FREE
