The Round Thing publishes the best in art and literature and the latest in science and technology.  The editors of the magazine wish to announce the publication of the inaugural issue.  The issue contains an article from the French journal Medicine / Sciences being published in English for the very first time.  They plan to publish the magazine as an ebook in addition to the option of print on demand in color or black and white.  We hope to develop wide interest in the field and build a community with a sense of support, critique, and collaboration.

The Round Thing has a focus on what many may consider alternative and controversial science.  The magazine is looking to publish a collection of scientific articles interspersed with art and photography, as well as, fiction, poetry, essays and more.  The idea is that a magazine with a variety of content types will have a wider audience and greater reader engagement.   The Round Thing will publish material related to aliens and UFO, cryptozoology, the paranormal, space and time travel, scientific research as well as controversial ideas, theories and explanations.

The article was recently published in a French science journal and is now appearing in English for the first time.  The topic is transhumanism, although the subject of the discussion is the word Enhancement and how it has spread from American literature to appear in European writing and now represents a strata of meanings.  The authors find three distinct classes of reference to Enhancements in the scientific literature including physical, cosmetic, and of the self.  All the while, the traditional view has been along the lines of species modification through genetic engineering there is now the realization that Enhancements could occur through Nanotechnology or mere chemical modulation.  The authors trace the usage of the term from early publications and conferences through and beyond the formation of organizations such as the WTA.  It is their supposition the general population will refrain from accepting any changes that present any significant realignment of their human identity for the time being, while some scholars have suggested that it may be humanity's obligation to become a fitter species as soon as possible.
