CHANDLER, Ariz. - Oct. 9, 2013 - PRLog -- CHANDLER (AZ)—Brighton Publishing LLC is pleased to announce the signing of author Phil Moore for his latest book, “Oatis and Family: An Adventure in Pennsylvania Dutch Country.” In a homespun tale of adventure, author Phil Moore takes readers on an epic journey through the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch country and the exploits of a teenage girl named Amanda and her oat-eating dog, Oatis. Oatis and Family: An Adventure in Pennsylvania Dutch Country is scheduled for eBookrelease in mid-2014 and will be available through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other leading retailers nationwide. The print version is currently slated for release in late-2014 and will be available through Ingram, the world’s largest book distributor.

For young Amanda, leaving the luxuries of her urban Chicago home for the farmhouses and outhouses of Pennsylvania’s Dutch country would be no easy task. To amplify her concerns, it had only been a year since her father’s death, and only months since her mother’s marriage to Stan.

With no access to even the most primitive of digital devices, such as the Internet and cell phones, Amanda is faced with an entirely new prospect for her teenage mind—physical exploration.

Delighted by the presence of a new Corgi puppy named Oatis, Amanda sets out on an adventure through Springtown and across the rural countryside. Soon, she will encounter the witty and wise, down-to-earth farmer named Ducky Huffnagle, and a cute, local boy named Jake.

From flea market swindlers to the despicable Woodruff boys, Amanda soon discovers that trouble still has a way of finding her. But, for the new favorite citizen of Springtown, Oatis, life has presented a new purpose—becoming the catalyst for change in Amanda’s strained relationship with her stepfather…

…and the springboard to rebuild and revive a divided community.

“In a cleverly crafted and highly entertaining tale of friendship, author Phil Moore delves into life’s colorful people, fascinating places, and fulfilling new friendships,” said Kathie McGuire, director of Brighton Publishing LLC. “Oatis and Family: An Adventure in Pennsylvania Dutch Country evokes the delightful imagery found in bestselling novels like Mark Saltzman’s classic, The Adventures of Otis and Milo.”

Author Phil Moore grew up in central Pennsylvania, in a town his family has lived in for over 150 years. Mr. Moore has a Ph.D. in Educational Research and Psychology, and is a frequent contributor to a number of publications and professional journals. He is currently studying the Pennsylvania German language and culture, thus balancing his heritage with his academic interests. While he and his wife no longer show their champion Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Barley, they still participate in dog agility trials with Barley’s daughter, Tilly, and enjoy travelling with the Corgis and the new family addition, Bob, a Tibetan Spaniel.
