GOSHEN, N.Y. - Oct. 8, 2013 - PRLog -- The New York State Association of PBAs, Inc. and Service Employees International Union Local 200United recently announced their endorsements of David M. Hoovler’s campaign for Orange County District Attorney.

The New York State Association of PBAs is the largest police organization in New York State, comprising scores of member units and more than 45,000 police officers.

“Our endorsement is based upon your experience and your well-known, documented positions taken in support of law enforcement, the friendship you have exhibited toward police officers, and the confidence we have in you to be an effective representative,” wrote President Michael J. Palladino in his endorsement letter.

In addition, SEIU Local 200United represents nearly 15,000 public and private sector employees who work in upstate New York as direct care workers and nurses, administrative assistants and secretaries, teaching assistants, food service workers, bus drivers, EMS professionals, municipal workers, security guards, janitors, buildings and groundskeepers, maintenance workers, ticket takers and ushers, cemetery workers, and parking attendants.

Other law enforcement endorsements of Hoovler’s campaign for Orange County District Attorney include Orange County Sheriff Carl DuBois, Orange County Deputy Sheriffs PBA, Police Chiefs’ Association of Orange County, Orange County Correction Officers BA, NYS Union of Police Associations, and PBAs in Wallkill, Newburgh, Deerpark, Beacon, and Harriman.

Other unions to have endorsed Hoovler include the Orange County Teachers Association, the Hudson Catskill Central Labor Council, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 363, Laborer’s Local 17, and Teamsters Local 445 (police officers in the towns of Mount Hope and Chester, the villages of Greenwood Lake, Goshen, Harriman, Walden, and Ellenville, and the City of Newburgh).

“Receiving endorsements from law enforcement organizations like the New York State Association of PBAs and unions with local, hard-working members is very encouraging,” said Hoovler. “I appreciate their support and look forward to working closely with them to improve our community.”

Hoovler is a former police detective in Prince George’s County, Md., a former trial attorney with the United States Department of Justice, Criminal Division, and a former assistant district attorney in Bronx and Orange counties. He currently works as a defense attorney at Ostrer & Hoovler, P.C. in Chester, where he is also a partner.

Hoovler’s political platform emphasizes community prosecution, a crime prevention tactic that teams prosecutors with community leaders and residents to identify and prevent potential crime problems. Hoovler will work directly with community members to define problems and develop solutions in cooperation with law enforcement, schools, health organizations, advocacy groups, non-profits, and businesses.

The endorsed candidate of the Orange County Republican, Independence, and Conservative parties, Hoovler will appear on three ballot lines in November.
