AMSTERDAM, N.Y. - Oct. 7, 2013 - PRLog -- AeroMed©, a leading manufacturer of air purification equipment for environmental infection control, is pleased to introduce its new InFinity upper air, Ultra Violet (UV) light system.  According to AeroMed© president, Bill Palmer, the companyhas chosen to expand beyond air purifiers that are based on HEPA filtration.  Palmer states that the reason for doing so is “to provide an economical solution for when traditional filtration and ventilation solutions are not financially feasible.

“Upper air UV products have been used for controlling airborne infectious diseases since the 1930’s but fell out of common use until a resurgence of tuberculosis in the US in the ‘80s and ‘90s.  Since the mid 1990’s no appreciable improvements have been made to the performance of upper air UV fixtures.

“We have spent the last two years developing and testing the InFinity UV product and are very happy with the results.  Through the use of multiple parabolic reflectors, we have been able to more than double the UV output of what was previously the best product on the market.  This allows our product to be more effective at killing airborne microbes and provide better protection of staff and other building occupants.  We have done this without increasing the UV energy and without using expensive electrical components that would increase the cost to run the device.

“Additionally, we have been able to provide this increased performance at a lower cost than currently available competitive products.  Our goal is to help people live healthy and productive lives.  It is our hope that in providing better protection at a lower cost, we will be able to help people that couldn’t otherwise afford this type of protection.”

Palmer stated that AeroMed© products such as the InFinity series are used in facilities that are at a higher risk for transmission of airborne infectious disease.  Examples of these would include chest clinics, hospital emergency department waiting rooms, radiology clinics, homeless shelters, prisons and jails, doctors waiting rooms, etc.  Tuberculosis, influenza viruses, severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), and measles are examples of airborne pathogens against which upper air UV may be effective.

AeroMed’s products are sold in medical facilities throughout North America as well as many other countries throughout the world.  AeroMed is currently the only manufacturer in the United States making sputum induction booths which are used in the diagnosis of tuberculosis.  AeroMed also manufactures containment hoods and rooms for mail applications, including anthrax through the mail.
