Pitch applications from companies seeking investment capital can be submitted at http://www.coloradocapitalconference.org. Up to 12 companies will be chosen to make investor pitches at the conference. The deadline for applications is October 15.
The conference will open on the evening of November 6 at the Denver Post in downtown Denver with a keynote address by U.S. Rep. Jared Polis. The following day, the conference will move to the American Mountain Center at 710 10th Street in Golden for the investor pitches and a series of presentations on investment-related topics.
Register for the conference at http://www.coloradocapitalconference.org. Early-bird discounts are available through October 10.
Polis represents Colorado’s Second Congressional District. He is one of the co-founders of TechStars, which provides seed funding for startup companies. He also started and sold several successful companies before entering political life and founded the Jared Polis Foundation in 2000 to support education.
This year’s Colorado Capital Conference will focus on Colorado success stories -- companies that have engineered successful exits or liquidity events for their investors. Colorado has had a great year for successful exits with IPOs from Rally Software and Noodles and Company and notable acquisitions by NexGen and Linerate. RVC wants to celebrate these successes while sharing the “how to” stories with investors and entrepreneurs alike in order to foster future Colorado exit success stories.
Accredited investors are eligible to attend an investor forum the morning after the conference ends to review and discuss the pitches made at the conference. RVC angels collaborate on investments between their angel groups in Denver, Boulder and Golden, with each investor making their own investment decisions for each company presented.
“The fact that this is the 25th annual Colorado Capital Conference is an important milestone for us,” said Peter Adams, executive director of Rockies Venture Club. “But the real significance is that it has provided a great opportunity over the years for entrepreneurs and investors wanting to connect with one another. It has been the catalyst for many investments over the years that have helped Colorado companies get started or grow and we’re now funding companies at rapidly increasing rates.”
