SAN DIEGO - Oct. 7, 2013 - PRLog -- Dr. Thierry Lerond has spent his career dedicated to “nutriprevention,” a revolutionary term, defining ways to boost health through pure marine dietary supplements.

In 1986, Nutrilys established its roots in France, and a few years ago, they opened their new Nutrilys Del Mar headquarters in San Diego, California.  In Europe, Dr. Lerond was a rehabilitation specialist serving the elite French Airborne Forces and researched novel ways for his patients to heal more quickly and prevent future injuries through marine supplements.

This month, The Village News in San Diego County, sought Dr. Lerond’s expertise in regard to Vitamin D3.  It appears that Vitamin D3, the same nutrients provided by natural sunlight, helps strengthen the immune system which can help fight off the seasonal cold and flu.

Dr. Lerond told The Village News, “Vitamin D3 is never a substitute for your annual flu shot, but it’s a fantastic dietary supplement one can take since so many of us may actually be Vitamin D deficient.  Those with low levels of Vitamin D may be more prone to illness. A strong immune system provides a ‘seasonal sickness shield’ and the Vitamin D3 component of it all creates antimicrobial peptides which helps defend us against bacteria and viruses."

The newspaper article (http://thevillagenews.com/story/73772/) also highlighted how Dr. Lerond has been a former keynote speaker at the NATO Operations Medical Conference.

A simple blood test, Dr. Lerond explained, can assess a person’s Vitamin D level.

Lerond pointed out various reasons for a Vitamin D deficiency such as a lack of sun exposure, not consuming enough seafood, or living in high altitudes.

Although Vitamin D3 supplements can be found in synthetic and natural forms, as far as Dr. Lerond is concerned, natural supplements are one of the best sources.

"Specifically, I’m a huge fan of wild Alaskan sockeye salmon because they dine in pristine waters and on superior nutrition which includes a feast of krill and other zooplankton. Their excellent nutritional choices are then passed onto us and we reap the rewards of great health benefits in both the meat and supplements," Dr. Lerond told The Village News.

Lerond also described wild Alaskan sockeye salmon oil as the "crème de la crème" in omegas and Vitamins A and D3.

Studies has also reported how Vitamin D3 may contribute to the support of bone and joint health, aid in hypertension, promote a healthy brain, and encourage cognitive abilities.

“Educating people on whole food marine based supplements is what I enjoy doing because the correct nutritional balance can help prevent illness and promote recovery,” Lerond said.
