The Turn on the Light South Florida Conference on Child Abuse and Neglect (http://www.turnonthelight.org/) is a one-day conference that brings together professionals in South Florida who work with or on behalf of children and families for a full day of educational and networking opportunities.

Victims’ Rights Attorney Brad Edwards will join panel Randee Kogan, Therapy Coordinator, Palm Beach Co. Victim Services and Rape Crisis Center and Ed Russo, Program Manager, National Center for Missing & Exploited Children to discuss and highlight Missing and Exploited Children.

Every year thousands of children become victims of crime-whether it’s kidnapping, violent attacks or sexual abuse. Discussion will include the types of child prostitution, issues relating to victims of child prostitution, and how to better protect children on the internet. Participants will learn the power of a victim impact statement, advocacy, the law and appropriate therapeutic interventions to assist child prostitution and sexual abuse victims, and resources/referral options available to providers and their clients.

The Children’s Healing Institute began helping parents and children in Palm Beach County in 1988 and expanded into Broward County in 1995.The mission of The Children’s Healing Institute is to provide Help, Understanding, Guidance and Support to all children including those with chronic and/or terminal illnesses in an effort to promote health, prevent child abuse/neglect and protect the future by strengthening families and protecting children.
