Charities To Be Honored At CASA’s 7th Annual Cocktails For CASA: A Safe Home For Every Child

CHICAGO - Oct. 6, 2013 - PRLog -- W. ROCKWELL “ROCKY” WIRTZ AND THE CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS CHARITIES TO BE HONORED AT CASA OF COOK COUNTY’S SEVENTH ANNUAL COCKTAILS FOR CASA:  A SAFE HOME FOR EVERY CHILD
On October 8th, 2013

CHICAGO, IL.—The Chicago community is invited to raise a glass with emcee and Windy City LIVE’s Val Warner, in support of Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Cook County. The seventh annual Cocktails for CASA: A Safe Home for Every Child will be held on Tuesday, October 8 from 5:30—8:30pm at Lloyd’s Chicago, located at 1 S. Wacker Drive in Chicago’s financial district. Tickets to the event are $75 per person, and may be purchased online at www.casacookcounty.org.

Cocktails for CASA: A Safe Home for Every Child will be a wonderful evening of cocktails, appetizers, live entertainment, and an impressive silent auction featuring a variety of hard-to-find items and memorabilia, as well as experiences at exclusive restaurants, hotels, travel destinations and more. Additionally, CASA of Cook County will present their Spirit Awards; among this year’s recipients are W. Rockwell “Rocky” Wirtz and the Chicago Blackhawks Charities. As the official charity of the Chicago Blackhawks, the Chicago Blackhawks Charities has donated millions of dollars to dozens of organizations focusing on youth programs, health and wellness, education and housing--and pledges to support programs and institutions throughout Illinois that work towards creating a better tomorrow.

Proceeds will benefit CASA’s mission of giving abused and neglected children a voice in court and securing safe and permanent homes for them. Last year, 300 CASA volunteers advocated for over 500 children in Cook County.  Unfortunately there are nearly 5,600 children in the Cook County system, most of which don’t have CASA volunteers advocating for them. It only costs $1,200 annually to provide a volunteer CASA Advocate for each child.  Cocktails for CASA helps make this possible.

About CASA of Cook County

For over a quarter of a century, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Cook County has been helping abused and neglected children involved in the Juvenile Court and foster care system of Cook County. CASA of Cook County provides caring volunteer advocates to make a life-long difference for children. Advocates are appointed by a judge and assigned to one case at a time, serving as an independent voice for abused and neglected children in court. Volunteers advocate for safe, permanent homes for these children to break the cycle of abuse and neglect. CASA volunteers help ensure that children receive appropriate services and treatment by: independently monitoring a child’s situation, identifying community resources, and participating in the court process. Events like Cocktails for CASA, along with support from the community and our sponsors DLA Piper LLP, Sheriff Meadow LLC, Ariel Investments, Scott and Rebecca Stringer, and Lowis & Gellen LLP, helps CASA to provide more and more children the advocacy the deserve.
