SAN CLEMENTE, Calif. - Oct. 4, 2013 - PRLog -- For a handful of the 38 cars who took the green flag in the first of two races at Zandvoort, things did not go as planned. An array of incidents, including a very hard hit that broke a track barrier by fellow Porsche Junior driver Alex Riberas, caused the race stewards to end the race and run both rounds 14 and 15 the next day.

With a few of the series leaders out of round 14 or starting from the back of the field, this gave De Phillippi and his teammate Robert Lukas and opportunity to show what they could do when starting from within the first few rows. When the lights when out and the race began, both of the FORCH Racing/Lukas Motorsport cars immediately showed their speed.

While Lukas was in a hard fought battle with Christian Engelhart for the race lead, perhaps the best battle on the track was for the final podium position. De Phillippi had his Roboscan Internet Security GT3 glued to the bumper of eventual P3 finisher Philipp Eng for virtually the entire race. Every move De Phillippi made to get past was successfully blocked by Eng. The defensive driving of Eng eventually caused the field to catch up and P3 - P6 ended up finishing with just .5 seconds gap. De Phillippi ended up missing out on the podium by just 0.07 seconds.

For round 15, De Phillippi was forced to start in P9 and had his work cut out for him to get to the front of the grid. As the lead pack was able to pull away and race in clean air, De Phillippi was again left in a very tough battle. He was able to make up one position during the race, but with the competition so event matched, it was nearly impossible to pull off successful passes on the Zandvoort circuit. In the end, De Phillippi was able to bring home P8 and more valuable points for the Rookie of the Year Championship and Team Championship.

Looking back on the race weekend, De Phillippi commented, "The weekend went quite well for us. We brought home our best result of the season and I can taste the podium. Some great battles in both races made the weekend a tough one, but I feel we made another big step forward. I cannot thank everyone enough for working so hard this year for me and I am already looking forward to Hockenheim. It's time to get this Roboscan Internet Security machine on the podium!"

With two rounds left in the 2013 Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland Championship, De Phillippi is continuing to lead the way in the Rookie of the Year Championship, with a gap of 22 points separating him and his nearest competitor.

The last two rounds take place at the famous 4.574 km Hockenheimring from October 18th - 20th.
