Online Mall Helps Consumers 'Buy Black'

WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J. - Oct. 3, 2013 - PRLog -- (Woodcliff Lake, NJ - October 1)  "urbanShoppe", an online shopping portal targeting Black females  is scheduled to debut in time for Kwanzaa and the Christmas shopping season. That is welcome news for both black shoppers and small vendors from the Black community.

UrbanShoppe fills an economic void long overdue, that is, Blacks buying from other Blacks. For decades, the Black community bemoaned the dollars and economic energy flowing out of their communities by shopping outliers, impacting quality of life and community economics. Now a bit more of the $1 trillion estimated by Nielsen as African American annual spend may flow back into Black communities through "The Windows of urbanShoppe."

UrbanShoppe (http://urbanshoppemall.com) will have hundreds of merchant windows in as many as 10 different "shops" selling thousands of products. Shops include everything from fashion to food and professional services. Visitors browse urbanShoppe's windows then click through to a  linked store, website or blog where a purchase can be made or a lead generated.

UrbanShoppe is an offshoot of TheUrbanShopper.com, the Shopping Lifestyle web magazine whose content is focused on modern consumerism where spending smart for "the good life" is celebrated.

"It's a win-win all around," notes publisher Marla Currie.  "Black shoppers get the opportunity to discover the many Black merchants out there nationally and merchants get traffic from the customers most likely their best prospects."

UrbanShoppe's design features are promised to delight both shoppers and merchants. Trending windows on the site will be displayed as a site feature for visitors. The site's design also promises a user friendly interface and good visibility for all merchant windows.  "There are no bad windows in urbanShoppe," notes Currie.
