Radisson Blu Cairo’s Hero (Curfew Busters)

Difficult times in Egypt saw staff at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Cairo Heliopolis rise to the challenge after authorities imposed night-time curfews due to unrest and demonstrations on the streets.

HELIOPOLIS, Egypt - Oct. 3, 2013 - PRLog -- Leading from the front was hotel General Manager Ashraf Naguib, who stayed on site with his teams 24/7. Staff from Front Office, Engineering, IT, Housekeeping, Security and Health & Safety sacrificed home comforts with their families to stay overnight and secure the safety of the guests and hotel.

Security Supervisor Hussein Saeeid said: "The comfort and safety of our guests comes before anything else. Team leaders decided to act to guarantee the hotel ran smoothly." He was joined by Security Officer Mohamed Arafat and Shift Leader Ahmed Fawzy to secure the safety of guests and colleagues.

Bell Captain Mohamed Abdu Aziz saw guests were seen quickly onto the premises, while Health & Safety Supervisors Mohamed Farouk Mohamed and Gamel Abdel Azim stayed  each night to deal with potential problems.

IT Senior Supervisor Abdel Moneim Say said: "We couldn't risk the systems being disrupted. The internet was down three times during the curfew, but we had it back up and running within 20 minutes."

Other members of staff were equally devoted to protecting Radisson Blu Cairo, Heliopolis's reputation for unrivalled service - whatever the threat.

Executive Sous Chef Essam Ezat supervised all restaurant operations, Housekeeping kept the public areas spotless for emergency arrivals from the nearby airport, while Front Office staff handled bookings while reservations personnel were away. Laundry members stayed on site so that staff had clean uniforms from early morning and to deal with guests' requests.

Radisson Blu Cairo, Heliopolis General Manager Ashraf Naguib said: "These were difficult days and nights in Cairo. But our staff all became heroes to step forward to guarantee that all of the hotel's operations ran smoothly, efficiently, safely and with professional calm. I don't think any of our guests would ever have noticed any difference from our usual highest standards."
