Follow on Google News | Artist Greg Pitts one of Featured Military Vets at New York ExhibitBy: The Bow Tie Art Gallery The piece that was chosen for the exhibit is a US Marine-themed work entitled "Semper Fi." This work depicts how the artist values the marines as the "first responders" during conflict. They are "the few, the proud" in their dedication to the military and their country. Although Mr Pitts is an Army veteran, he has a lot of friends who are marines. This work of art is made from all recycled materials, keeping in line with the artists' motto "saving the planet one day at a time" The Central New York Veteran Art Blast is an exhibit for military veterans who are artists. Its purpose is to showcase the talent of these service men and women and to bring attention to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, commonly known as PTSD. While many individuals are under the assumption that PTSD is soley combat related, this is not necessarily the case. "Semper Fi" is the artists interpretation of how the marine has to prepare for his or her role in the reality of war. The exhibit will be at the SUNY IT Campus, 575 Residential Drive in Utica, New York October 9th throught October 11th, 2013. The opening ceremony begins Wednesday October 9, 2103 at 11:30 a.m. with keynote speaker Patricia Welch, PhD, USMC-retired who is a 2010 inductee into the Veterans Hall of Fame. End
