New Street Launches Exciting Line of Nautically-Themed Audiobooks

Series to offer audio narratives of sailing adventure, the history of sail, the business of shipping, and the rigors of trans-ocean voyaging. Includes titles from International Marine/McGraw Hill Education, Marine Money and other major publishers.

NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. - Oct. 2, 2013 - PRLog -- New Street Communications, LLC - the three-year-old digital publisher based in Wickford, Rhode Island - has announced the creation of New Street Nautical: an audiobook series customized to meet the information and entertainment needs of people interested in sailing, the history of sail, marine commerce, and trans-ocean voyaging.

Audiobooks currently in production include John Kretschmer's At the Mercy of the Sea: The True Story of Three Sailors in a Caribbean Hurricane, William Butler's 66 Days Adrift, Julia Plant's Coyote Lost at Sea: The Story of Mike Plant, America's Daring Solo Circumnavigator, and Dynasties of the Sea: The Shipowners and Financiers Who Expanded the Era of Free Trade, this written by CNBC's Lori Ann LaRocco. Early releases of the series will also include Capsized: Jim Nalepka's Epic 119-Day Survival Voyage Aboard the Rose-Noëlle by New York Times bestselling author Steven Callahan, for which New Street will simutaneously publish digital and paper editions.

Peter Nichols, bestselling author of A Voyage for Mad Men, says of At the Mercy of the Sea that it "goes straight to the heart of the greatest sea stories: they are not about man against the sea, but man against himself. John Kretschmer’s book is as perfectly shaped and flawlessly written as such a story can be." Sailing Magazine has called Julia Plant's Coyote Lost at Sea "one of the best sailing books of the year." All other titles in production, as well as those yet to be announced, have been similarly praised.

New Street founder and managing director Edward Renehan - himself an avid ocean sailor - will serve as Senior Editor for the series. "New Street Nautical will provide the best of the best narratives in this topic area. My intention is to build a vibrant audio list laced with sea-salt and riveting prose."

The first audiobooks will publish in December, with distribution via Audible and iTunes.
