News of the Week: Michael Maiorana Named Verizon Public Sector Lead

This week, the biggest news the website covered was the announcement that Michael Maiorana has been named SVP of public sector markets for Verizon's enterprise solutions business.

He is a 23-year company veteran who most recently served as the president of Verizon's Washington-Baltimore-Virginia region where he had responsibilities for sales, customer service, retail stores and marketing.

In his new role, Maiorana succeeds 16-year company veteran Susan Zeleniak who has retired after a 39-year career in telecommunications.

Maiorana has also served as VP of national government sales and operations and led sales and customer service in the federal, state and local government markets.

He is currently serving a second term on the Northern Virginia Technology Council board of directors.
