Brighton Publishing signs William Schwenn for “Blackie: An Odyssey of Furry Hearts”

What would start as a rescue attempt for a few neighborhood dogs, would ultimately turn into an extended struggle to save their very lives.

After a series of tense moments and nail-biting frustrations, Blackie, a mixed breed of modest stature, would soon find a new home, and the chance to enjoy a happy and healthy life.

Along with a pair of headstrong, Border Collie sisters and a psychologically wounded mutt, Blackie would soon find himself fulfilling his own purpose—bringing joy and comfort to those around him.

Although modest in stature, Blackie’s endearing qualities ultimately lead to a unique bond with his new caretaker—leading them both on a path of remarkable new adventures.

Blackie’s odyssey is one of devoted friendship, mutual admiration, and an appreciation for life and each other.
