Follow on Google News | Applewood Our House to Open Third Memory Care Home in OctoberDespite the wet, soggy weather in recent weeks, construction of the new Applewood Our House III is on schedule and the first residents are scheduled to move in by the middle of October.
By: Applewood Our House “The neighborhood is a mix of single-family homes and homes with ranch lots for horses,” Wyngarden explains. “Our residents will enjoy the country feel to the area as well as the fantastic mountain views. “Our secure, specialized homes offer services and structure specifically designed to accommodate those with various dementias and assisted living needs,” says Wyngarden. “Our staff has had specialized training in caring for those with dementia and related diseases. We offer: 24-hour supervision in eight-hour shifts to keep our staff energized so they best serve our residents; secure, homey units; three daily nutritionist- Outstanding features of the new home will include several indoor areas to sit and socialize; pet therapy programs; a cozy fireplace; a large, open kitchen with counter; indoor and outdoor dining areas; a tranquil garden and walking path; state-of-the- Our House III is half full and has several openings. Applewood Our House in Golden (1365 Yank St.) has been at capacity with 12 residents since it opened in spring 2011 and Our House Too in Lakewood (1900 Upham St., near 20th and Wadsworth and Aviation Park) opened in summer 2012 and has 16 residents. Interested individuals can get their names on the waiting list or visit the homes by contacting Malou van Eijk. The daughter of one of the new Our House residents had these comments after reserving space for her mother. “Applewood Our House is the place we want our Mom. She has been living on her own but the family is becoming exhausted with the care involved. It’s a tough decision to move her out of her home but Our House is the best by far of the 12 assisted living homes we have visited.” “We think anyone who tours our home will find it a step or two above other assisted living facilities,” Each resident room includes bathroom, bed, closet organizer, flat screen TV, nightstand, and lamp.
