Pharmacy Technicians are multi-faceted members of the pharmacy team. They work closely with a licensed pharmacist and other pharmacy staff. Some of their daily job responsibilities may include assisting customers over the phone or in person, handling prescriptions, preparing medications for dispersal, and performing a variety of other administrative tasks.
As per Bureau of Labor statistics (USDOL), Employment of pharmacy technicians is expected to increase by 32 percent from 2010 to 2020, much faster than the average for all occupations. The median annual wage of pharmacy technicians was $28,400 in May 2010. Pharmacy technicians work in pharmacies, including those found in grocery and drug stores, and in hospitals. Most work full time, but many work part time.
