VICTORIA, British Columbia - Sept. 30, 2013 - PRLog -- Marion Gibson presents her book, Unfaithful Mind, with a talk, readings and Q&A at a special Movie Monday program called Saturday Live at 7:00 PM in Victoria, BC.

Despite the eventual and probable diagnosis of late-onset schizophrenia, John and Marion struggled to hold their family together and to deal with John’s illness. With excerpts in the book from John, Unfaithful Mind tells the story from a spouse’s perspective and what is required to overcome the unthinkable.

This is a story about the most severe mental illness, survival and  triumph. Ultimately this is a love story that reminds us what is truly most important.

Marion Gibson and her husband, John, were leading an idyllic life in Victoria, BC, Canada. High school sweethearts, he was an intenationally known scientist who, after stints in Vienna and Australia, had settled into a post in Victoria with his wife and their three children. Marion was working for and was the BC representative for the family business based in Ontario when tragedy struck while she was on a business trip to Toronto.

As Marion asked “What had happened to our beautiful happy life? Could it really be over for us? I just wasn’t sure if our love was strong enough to keep us together. I probably believed it wasn’t.”

Their love was strong enough and Marion describes that journey in her book, Unfaithful Mind. An advance review on Librarything.com compared it to a beautiful mind and said the book "is heartbreaking, beautiful, and everything all at once. I wish the best for her family and would really love to read more from her about her husband's progress....Mrs. Gibson is a very strong lady and I support her decision to publish this 100%. More people need to know that this happens to normal people every day! I definitely recommend this book."

A second advance review on librarything.com stated "I couldn't put it down from the very first page. Scary in the most personal of ways. Sad, terrifying and inspiring. Most certainly worth a read" while the other said "informative, fascinating and heart-wrenching".

Ms Gibson has been the subject of a feature article in The Georgia Straight in Vancouver and interviewed on CBC radio in Vancouver and Victoria and on the Ian Jessop show in Victoria. Links to these shows and details of the book can be found at http://bridgeross.com/unfaithful.html

Movie Monday (http://www.moviemonday.ca/) started as a sparky idea by Bruce Saunder who was recovering from a severe depression and second suicide attempt. While still in the hospital, he discovered a 100-seat lecture auditorium with a video projector, and the idea of showing films there for patients and ex-patients captured his imagination. It was a modest plan with a -a lot of possibilities in his hypo-manic mind. When people gather for popular film entertainment there are a lot of other cool things that can happen.

That was in May 1993 and now MM is recognized as a "Best Practice" in the Victoria mental health system and has a life of its own. They've had an unbroken series of brilliant films and a parade of filmmakers and special guests coming by their modest little theatre.

And their next speical guest is Marion Gibson who will be at the  Eric Martin Pavilion Theatre, 1900 Block Fort Street, Victoria, BC at 7:00 Pm. Saturday, Oct 5, 2013.

And for those who can't make it Unfaithul Mind, ISBN 978-1-927637-03-6, 176 pages, 16.95 is distributed by Ingram and available at Amazon, Chapters/Indigo, Barnes and Noble , Kindle, Kobo  and at other retailers. The Afterword is by Dr David Laing Dawson (http://bridgeross.com/videos.html), a psychiatrist, writer and film maker who has been a special guest at Movie Monday with some of his films.
