MinoCloud launches web app rapid development platform and hosted structured data service

Service simplifies how developers create web apps and how users collaborate on structured data.

PALO ALTO, Calif. - Sept. 27, 2013 - PRLog -- Today MinoCloud, a silicon valley startup, launched a service designed to accelerate the development of web applications, including the use of complex structured data.

The platform provides database, notification and authentication services to developers, the use of which offers an estimated 75% reduction in the amount of code required to build the web apps expected by today's users, and it’s database uses a folder and item hierarchy similar to a computer file system to simplify the organization and searching of data. The platform's data browser lets personal and business users create, search and share structured data without setting up a database or writing any code. It also acts as a powerful tool for developers, allowing the inspection and searching of data that an app is using.

“Our service dramatically changes the economics of web application development,” said Marcus Longmuir, MinoCloud CEO. “particularly where complex data structures are involved. Imagine a catalog or inventory management application that can be developed in hours rather than weeks.”

Compared to SQL, MinoCloud's database allows developers to simply and seamlessly attach more data to a record, without real time performance impact. MinoCloud also improves upon the standard approach used by most modern NoSQL databases. Whereas most modern databases provide no structure to records whatsoever, MinoCloud provides a standardized container for records, facilitating versioning, permissions, validation and modification times, all out-of-the-box without the need for a developer to create these generic features. This allows the developer to concentrate on their app, rather than on padding out a feature-less database.

"We built MinoCloud because we had great ideas that exceeded the time and team size we had available. We wanted a platform that would provide the big pieces of architecture as services so that we could concentrate on what made our apps unique. Now others can use our platform to build those great ideas that seem too big to ever complete." explains Marcus Longmuir, Founder of MinoCloud.

MinoCloud currently supports PHP and Node.js development, but more language support is planned for the near future.

Using MinoCloud is free during beta and after beta each user will receive a limited amount of free usage (enough for personal users) per day.
