Sept. 27, 2013 - PRLog -- With so many products on the market to choose from it can be hard to know whether to choose a liquid based or powder based foundation.

Like most things in life there are pro's and con's to both, which your choice might be influenced by, so consider a few of them here.

Whilst liquid based foundations can appear to give better coverage they can also be the least healthy option for your skin as they tend to block pores when applied to heavily or used on a regular basis.(now that's not a good thing hey) Powder foundation however are generally light so this allows the pores to breath. However powder based foundation is not the best option for those with dry skin as it can lead to drying the skin out further. Therefore suggesting liquid based foundation is the better option during colder climates and times if year.

Powder however is best for acne prone or oily/combination skin types as it can help ratify any oil and you don't have to apply a lot to create an airbrushed look, so that has to be a plus.

Liquid based foundation on the other hand can have a heavier coverage but is good for concealing redness and dark spots.

Age is another factor to consider. Something we all have to take note of, whilst some feel powder gives a younger more natural look it can also make wrinkles and lines (tell tale signs of aging) appear more visible.

Application also needs to be considered as while most powders (whether pressed or lose) come with an applicator sponge of some sort, liquid foundations do not always have these available. Sponges, brushes and even your own fingers can be used to apply the base to get the coverage and look you want.

Tinted moisturizers are also an option to be considered and not to be ruled out as these not only hydrate the skin but can include an SPF protection which is to be a good thing to wear when the skin is exposed to the sun. However this type of make up is only best suited for skin with very few blemishes as they provide less coverage for a more natural look, but do come in a variety of shades.

So whether it's skin type, age, application or just personal preferences make sure you choose the right shade for skin tone for the best look all round.
