“GRUNGE is a story I’ve been working on—in my head and on paper—since 1994,” says Rowen. “And although it’s not autobiographical in any way, it’s a very personal project for me, as I was bulimic for about fifteen years, and I really wanted to write an honest story about a character with that disease. I haven’t read any novels in which an actively bulimic character struggles with life and desperately tries to fall in love.”
