By: Woodall Creative Group First Lady Deal is one of nearly 150 officials who will visit some of the approximately 3,800 Pre-K classrooms located in all 159 counties in Georgia throughout the week. While at the school – located at 3455 Webb Bridge Rd in Alpharetta – Mrs. Deal will participate in a reading activity with the children, take a tour of the facility, talk with the staff, and get an up-close look at the many ways that Kids ‘R’ Kids is supporting early learning. She is slated to be at the school from approximately 8:30 a.m. until about 9:15 a.m. and will be presented with a handmade book by the students before the conclusion of her visit. “We are so honored to have been named among the state’s Top 10 performing Georgia Pre-K programs for the third year in a row,” said Shelan Meheux, Owner of Kids ‘R’ Kids # 28. “We are also humbled that Mrs. Deal is taking time away from her demanding schedule to visit with our students. We need more leaders like her to be vocal about the positive effects that early childhood education programs have on the future success of the child and of our community. "About 84,000 four year olds in Georgia benefit from this remarkable program, a milestone in the critical phase of education that takes place from birth to age 8." As a Georgia State, National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) accredited preschool, Kids ‘R’ Kids #28 currently provides two Georgia Pre-K classrooms – representative of 22 students each. To be named among the Top 10 performing Georgia Pre-K programs, the school had to undergo classroom assessments and meet criteria for specific performance indicators outlined by Bright From the Start. Beyond its Pre-K classrooms, Kids ‘R’ Kids #28 features eight additional classroom suites, a cafeteria, a resource room, a large activity gym for before and after school students, and four large play areas separated for age groups. The school is a locally owned and operated franchise that provides innovative facilities and effective educational programs for children 6 weeks through 12 years of age. In the early 1990’s, Kids ‘R’ Kids International was instrumental in pioneering the Georgia Pre-K Program with then Governor Zell Miller. Today, 38 Kids ‘R’ Kids Academies throughout Metro Atlanta are pleased to offer the Georgia Pre-K Program to their students.
