Follow on Google News | 30+ Colonial FSC’s Skaters to Compete at 2014 New England Regional Figure Skating ChampionshipsRepresenting 25 Massachusetts Towns and Neighboring States Towns
Over two hundred figure skaters, their families and coaches from across New England are expected to participate in the event over Columbus Day Weekend. Colonial FCS competitors’ Acton, Andover, Attleboro, Bedford, Billerica, Bolton, Boxborough, Concord, Harvard, Holliston, Lexington, Lunenburg, Newton, North Andover, North Bridge, Somerville, Southborough, Sterling, Stowe, Sudbury, Westborough, Westford, Weston, Worcester, Atkinson (NH), Coventry (RI). This major annual competition sanctioned by US Figure Skating is significant because it is a pre-qualifier to the US National Championships and Olympic Team selection process. There were over 250 entrants in the last year’s US Figure Skating New England Regional Qualifying Championship. The top 4 skaters will qualify for the US Figure Skating’s 2014 Eastern Sectional Championships to be held on November 19-23, 2013 and hosted by the Washington FSC in Ashburn, VA. The winners of the Eastern Sectional competition, along with top finishers in the Pacific Coast and Midwest sectionals, will compete in the 2014 Prudential U.S. Figure Skating Championships, Jan. 5-12, 2014 in Boston, MA. National champions and medalists ultimately become members of the US World Teams and Olympic Teams in Olympic years. The public is invited to see the competitors Send Off Exhibition on September 28, 2013 at 5:30PM at Nashoba Valley Olympia, rink 3. Tickets will be available at the Colonial FSC office.
