Tortola Sailing school opens new training centre

Tortola Sailing School (http://tortolasailingschool.com) is pleased to announce the upcoming opening of its new training facility in Sopers Hole marina, Frenchmans Cay, Tortola, BVI.

The 950 sqf facility will enable the school to deliver professional training courses through the International Yacht Training Worldwide scheme (IYT) and the American Sailing Association scheme (ASA).

The companies foundations are firmly rooted in the commitment to provide quality training to people wishing to make a career in the marine industry, the courses are open to BVIslanders, expats and tourists alike, and the company wishes to launch a scholarship system for local young people who are in full time education or un-employed to empower themselves to get the right training to  enable them to gain entry to one of the BVI's most stable economic platforms, the maritime industry.

The owners of Tortola Sailing School wish to speak to the local high schools through the Ministry of Education to discuss the possibility of workshops designed to highlight the advantages of the right qualifications and steps available to gain the necessary certification and training to compete with foreign skilled skippers, engineers and chefs in their own territory.

Tortola Sailing School is a stand alone commercially based educational platform and wishes to fund its scheme with the help of locally operated marine businesses, there has been a very good initial response from many businesses and  TSS is asking those businesses to step up to the mark and help fund the initial scholarships through donations to the scheme.

The IYT Worldwide scheme is approved by the MCA, the governing body of all red flag states and the scheme is also approved by 41 countries worldwide in 21 jurisdictions with 150 schools operating the scheme, it is also approved by the USCG.
