“I was visiting the Western Front, having spent hours planning my trip with guide books, adding a few locations to my sat nav as I went along. It wasn’t until I got back that I realised how useful it would be if I’d had them in my sat nav before I left for the trip.”
Damien van Carrapiett, Lead Researcher.
Many of the locations have been visited in person by the team behind the project to ensure accuracy. The service enables visitors to the Western Front to quickly and easily plan their trip, ensuring that they have accurate and up to date information at their fingertips.
Over 1,400 ‘points of interest’ are available for TomTom and Garmin devices. These cover the major battlefields such as:
· Ypres, the Ypres Salient, and Passchedaele
· The Somme, Vimy Ridge and Fromelles
