MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. - Sept. 25, 2013 - PRLog -- September 26, 2013 Mount Laurel, NJ---A college degree, pregnant, on maternity leave, and fighting to save her home from foreclosure, Shanda Mathis was about to join a statistic that is epidemic in the country—underemployed single mothers. Her employment background working as an Assistant Project Manager directly with disabled people at a local military base, made her realize that self-pity was not an option. At a pivotal time in her life, with two children to care for, despite the risk of a new business in a down economy, Mathis realized that if she wasn’t going to invest in herself, then who would do it?

“Change is frightening but the only option if you want success—I believed this in my soul” says Shanda. Her challenge was finding the right business that made sense—served a strong client base, and could possibly employ other people in my community—more importantly says this 38 year-old businesswoman, “inspire others to take the risk, invest in yourself, and good things will happen”.

In designing a company with the intent of hitting multiple targets, Shanda Mathis created Platinum Chores—a full service cleaning and Concierge Company that emulated the work of service help to the wealthy decades ago. Shanda adds, “by offering a palette of services from housekeeping, errands, phone calls, shopping, reservations, house sitting, office cleaning, pet needs, and much more, today’s busy professionals, families, and elderly could have this helping hand at their finger tips—that is the essence of Platinum Chores.”

According to Mathis, “the soul of the business was to guarantee privacy to the client and ensure that each one of our workers bestows exactly what the butlers and maids of the affluent had decades ago—trustworthy, dependable, and service oriented sensibility.”

Platinum Chores knows that what was considered a luxury to the wealth years ago is more functional today for the working family, retired elderly, and busy entrepreneur. The a la carte menu offers a variety of services at affordable prices with an on-call status 24/7. Serving a 75- mile radius covering South Jersey and the Philadelphia area, Mathis will continuously add to her services to meet the needs of her clients and to give the unemployed and underemployed in her community--hope.

When asked if this was worth the risk in a vulnerable economy, Shanda says, “Frightening? Yes! Is it worth it? Absolutely! I took my life savings and I invested in the one thing I had confidence in—myself. “Shanda Mathis is available for speaking engagements on young entrepreneurship for women and is co-authoring a motivational book, Your Hallmark Moment - Now.
